We love the New York State Fair. It is a great place to bring our families. With so many activitiesand events, there is something for everyone. Many people comint to the fair also love rodeo. We are aware that our State Fair has welcomed United Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) sponsorship of the Bulls and Barrels rodeo, again this year. As you know, tobacco sponsorship of our community events and activities is a marketing strategy to recruit youth and adult tobacco users and to normalize the use of tobacco products.
Our State Fair is a family event. Parents do not bring their children to the Fair so they can be marketed to by companies with such a long history of fraud and deceit who sell products so defective they actually kill people who use them as intended.
We request that you immediately sever your relationship with USSTC and adopt a policy that prohibits sponsorship, promotions, exhibits and any other involvement by tobacco companies at the State Fair.
