Save the Stables in Richmond, CA and Stop Horse Slaughter!

Save the Stables and Work with Horse People

100+ horses and their owners--who love them--have been served an eviction notice because the City of Richmond sent in code enforcement officers claiming they didn't know about the 17 year old stable even though these horses have been in the Richmond Cinco de Mayo Parade for a decade. It seems like this is an attack on minority horsemen. Many City officals knew about this stable for almost 2 decades. Why do they want to kick them out now?

If horse owners are evicted with NO OTHER affordable stables in the Bay Area then many horses will end up being sold. If horses end up eventually sold to horse traders and they aren't able make a profit then some might end up at auction then scooped up for cheap prices by kill-buyers! None of the horses at the Richmond stable should be put at risk of entering the slaughter pipeline.

". . . even California horses, protected by law from slaughter, quietly disappear into the pipeline, simply by crossing first into neighboring states where exporting for slaughter is legal. . . “It’s really easy to get around the system,” Jacobson said.

Please Mayor Butt: Save the stable now!

Animal Control claims they "found homes" for 50 horses but these horses already have homes and belong to Hispanic, Black and White blue collar community members who love them.

The stable is rustic, board is affordable, the horses are happy and so are the inner-city kids who learn to ride for $10. a lesson.

We hope you understand the value of an inner-city stable. Horses are healing and make Richmond a better place. The boarders want to work with you to keep the affordable stable in Richmond. Will you work with them?

Mayor Butt, please keep the stable in Richmond! It's good for the community!
