Tell Congress - End Wildlife-Killing Polluter Welfare Subsidies

Climate change is driving threatened polar bears, coral reefs, and other animals to the brink of extinction, driving up costs from severe weather, and creating droughts across the American West.

So why is the US government subsidising some of the world's most prolific and profitable polluters with your tax dollars?

According to a May investigative report by The Guardian, the US government is subsidizing specific projects for some of the largest polluting industries in the world — to the tune of billions of dollars.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) have introduced The End Polluter Welfare Act to eliminate $135 billion in subsidies to Shell Oil, ExxonMobil, and other fossil fuel companies.

Help Senator Sanders and Congressman Ellison safeguard your tax dollars and the environment. Urge your Senators and Representative to support The End Polluter Welfare Act.

Dear Decision Maker,

As someone who cares about how my tax dollars are used and protecting wildlife and the environment, I strongly urge you to do everything you can to ensure passage of The End Polluter Welfare Act (S. 1041, H.R. 1930).

This legislation would eliminate $135 billion in subsidies to highly profitable companies like ExxonMobil, Shell Oil, and Marathon Petroleum.

Continuing to subsidize fossil fuel companies that are fueling climate change is doubly costly and doubly ridiculous. Already, we see rising costs from severe storms, sea level rise, and drought -- to say nothing of the incalculable loss of climate-sensitive wildlife.

The End Polluter Welfare Act (S. 1041, H.R. 1930) is an important step in protecting taxpayers and the environment. I hope you will do whatever you can to ensure its passage.

Sincerely,
