Biden and Congress: Help Those Hit Hardest by the COVID-19 Crisis

While we've entered a new year, the stark truth is that the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging, impacting billions of people around the world. It is threatening to increase inequality in almost every country at once for the first time ever. Here in the US, 140,000 jobs were lost in December, nearly all of them held by women of color.

The pandemic is a tipping point. The way governments respond to it can make us stronger and more resilient, or further widen inequality. This is a new day, and a moment of choice.

We need President Biden and Congress to work quickly to enact a transformational COVID-19 recovery plan that helps families cope with the economic impacts of the pandemic here and around the world. Now is not the time for half-measures or tinkering around the edges.

I am calling on President Biden and Congress to:

  • Jumpstart the economy. We need a multi-trillion dollar economic stimulus package that gets our economy moving, prioritizes workers and families and not giant corporations, puts people back to work in green, dignified jobs, and helps those most impacted by the pandemic, specifically women and people of color.
  • Fight COVID abroad. Congress must commit at least $20B in life-saving foreign aid to tackle the COVID-19 crisis around the world. This virus knows no borders. We will not defeat this virus anywhere until we defeat it everywhere.
  • Fund child care. Child care will play a key role in our economic recovery and we need at least $50B in the immediate term to save child care, given the immense, ongoing needs of families and child care providers

Sign your name and demand that President Biden and Congress commit to more COVID-19 recovery investment and do more to help those hit hardest by this crisis.
