Tell the Candidates: The Climate Crisis is a Priority

We know voters care about climate. EDF Action polling data shows that climate change ranks in the top two issues for Democratic primary voters, and as a top issue in the general electorate.

But we need to make sure this issue gets the weight it deserves. Time is not on our side, and Americans are already suffering the consequences. In 2018, America experienced 14 separate billion-dollar extreme weather disasters — totaling $91 billion in damages. That's more than 10 times the Environmental Protection Agency's entire budget.

The candidates might think that now that CNN's climate forum is behind them, this issue has been addressed. Take action today, and make sure they don't let it slip down on their priority list.
SUBJECT: Make the climate crisis a top priority

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am writing to ask that all the presidential candidates keep the climate crisis as a top priority in your campaign, and specifically detail how you plan to ensure the U.S. achieves a 100% clean energy economy.

Climate needs to be a key component of election conversations -- and that's not just my opinion. Polling done by EDF Action shows that voters across the board put action on climate at or near the top of their issue priority list. In fact, action on climate change followed only health care as a priority across the first 5 primary states.

Addressing the climate crisis -- and getting us to a 100% clean energy economy -- must be a central piece of any candidate's platform.

Sincerely,
