Suspended For Wearing a Purse? Let Skyler Come Back to School!

13-year-old Skyler Davis was suspended from school for wearing a Vera Bradley purse – and officials say he can’t come back until he takes it off.

Skyler says he had been wearing the purse to school for months. When a school official asked him to take it off and he refused, the school suspended him and called his mother to pick him up.

There are no rules in the school's handbook prohibiting boys from wearing purses, and according to Skyler, girls at his school don't get in trouble for it.

Skyler told reporters, "It expresses myself and I think everyone else can wear it, so I wear it as well."

Sign the petition to demand that Anderson County Senior-Junior High School let Skyler wear his purse to school!

Dear Anderson County Senior-Junior High School,

I'm writing because I heard that one of your students, Skyler Davis, was suspended for refusing to take off his Vera Bradley purse.

This disciplinary action is sexist and sends an awful message to students everywhere. Purses are not inappropriate accessories, and students like Skyler should be able to wear any item other students can wear, regardless of their gender.

Please reverse your suspension of Skyler immediately and invite him to wear his purse back to school.

Sincerely,
