Take Action to Address the Leading Cause of Blindness in U.S. Children!

Over the last few years, Cortical Visual Impairment, or CVI, has emerged as the new leading cause of blindness among children in the United States.

A brain-based disorder, CVI is a complex diagnosis requiring a different assessment approach than ocular impairments. In fact, because the condition does not affect the mechanics of the eye, children with CVI have the potential to improve their use of vision when diagnosed, educated and treated using specialized techniques. That's why it's so critical that more people know as much as possible about CVI.

Perkins School for the Blind is leading the way in research,  education and awareness building around CVI. We're providing online courses, assessment tools, and developing specific resources for families and educators so kids with CVI have what they need to reach their full potential.

Your voice can make a difference. By signing your name today, you're showing support for the important work of Perkins School for the Blind and the cutting edge resources we're developing for children impacted by CVI and their families. You'll receive important information and updates about this emerging condition so you can spread awareness as research continues to evolve and outcomes improve for children. Please, take action, and join the movement to raise awareness about this important issue.
