DON’T EXECUTE STAN "TOOKIE" WILLIAMS!
Petitioning Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
to grant clemency to Stan "Tookie" Williams and spare his life.
October 11, 2005: The Supreme Court today ruled against Tookie, disregarding 9 of the 24 Ninth Circuit Court judges' assertion that the prosecuting District Attorney at Tookie's trial employed "reprehensible and unconstitutional" racist tactics, using animal-jungle metaphors to refer to Tookie and to the South Central environment in which he lived. This ruling means that minorities can now legally be summarily rejected from juries based on race. Tookie could be given an execution date as soon as January 2006.
To Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger:
Stanley Tookie Williams deserves a new trial due to the racism and unfairness of his original trial and conviction. He deserves this justice. He needs clemency to spare his life. We the undersigned call on you to grant Stanley Tookie Williams – who is saving thousands of lives around the world – clemency.
