Please sign and share this petition nationwide on all media sites in order to make a loud statement to Illinois Schools like the Sherrard Elementary School not to ban a child with epilepsy to bring her dog into the school. This is her service dog that needs to help her throughout the day and it is absurd that a school would ban this dog from her daily world! Let's be a voice for this little girl and her therapy dog and sign in her name!

Little Kellsey McGuire is an eight year old girl that has been diagnosed with epilepsy since she was an 18-month old infant. Her condition is severe with frequent seizures. Having a service dog to accompany her throughout the day can alert those around her of an impending seizures and help the child. However, officials at the Sherrard Elementary School in Sherrard, Illinois will not allow her to bring her dog, Jasper into the school and her classrooms. According to her mother, Brandi McGuire, Kellsey has had up to 90 seizures in one day, stating that “Kellsey has had seizures in the past where she stopped breathing and she goes unresponsive and she turns blue. And we have to rush her to the hospital. It’s very important that Jasper is there. I mean he is her furry little angel. He is the one that comes and tells us when she is having a seizure."

Jasper is not just a pet tagging along with this child. He is her lifeline! The attorney for the family states that the school is in violation of the ADA which states that a service dog is “Any guide dog, service dog, or other animal trained to provide assistance to person with a disability." Is this not the case with Kellsey? The attorney goes on to say that “They will make accommodations for those with medical issues. In this instance, service dogs. They will be allowed in the facility, in the classroom and allow for, in this case, Kellsey, to save her life.”

This situation is currently under investigation although I must say, what is there to investigate? Kellsey is severely a special needs child and Jasper is a necessary part of her normal day of life.
