Urge New Mexico Lawmakers to Invest in Kids Now and in the Future

New Mexico kids deserve the very best, but we are ranked the worst in the nation for child well-being.

Early childhood education programs are essential for the health of young children and critical for parents to maintain employment. Studies show that children who receive a high-quality early education are 20% more likely to graduate from high school and, on average, earn a 50% higher income.

When our kids succeed, we all do.

Send a message today to your state lawmakers and remind them to keep kids a priority now and well into the future.
Subject: Keep Kids a Priority This Legislature Session

Dear [Decisionmaker],

As your constituent, I am writing to encourage you to prioritize New Mexico's youngest kids.

I am grateful for the support of the legislature in increasing funding for early childhood programs and for the creation of a cabinet-level agency focused on our youngest learners. I am hopeful that the state will continue this momentum by creating a new trust fund for early childhood education and supporting the executive budget request for the new Early Childhood Education and Care Department.

A report from Nobel Prize-winning economist James Heckman shows the rate of return on investments in early childhood education for many children can be 13 percent per child, per year, due to improved outcomes in education, health, sociability, economic productivity and reduced crime. When our kids succeed, we all do.

I look forward to working with you to support NM's kids.
