Tell President Obama: Keep Wolves Protected
Wolves across the country need your help now. The Obama administration is poised to make a decision before the end of the year to lift Endangered Species Act protections for wolves across the United States, including the Pacific Northwest, southern Rocky Mountains, Northeast, and elsewhere -- this could happen any day.
In the past two years, federal protections for wolves have been removed in the northern Rocky Mountains and western Great Lakes, leaving management decisions to individual states. States in these regions have approved aggressive hunting and trapping seasons designed to drastically reduce recently recovered populations resulting in hundreds of wolves dying. State management programs are as gruesome as they are ineffectual.
These incredible predators won't return and thrive if the government strips their Endangered Species Act protections. Please, sign today to tell President Obama and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service not to give up on America's wolves.

The recovery of wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains and western Great Lakes has seen tremendous success, but the job of recovery is not done.

Removal of Endangered Species Act protections in these two regions has exposed wolves to state management that seeks to drastically reduce wolf populations, resulting in the slaughter of wolves -- to the horror of the American public.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is now moving to remove protections for wolves across most of the lower 48, including the southern Rocky Mountains, Pacific Northwest, Northeast and elsewhere. Scientists have identified suitable habitat for wolves in all of these areas, and both the people and ecosystems of these regions would benefit from their presence.
With wolves just beginning to recover in additional areas like the Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest and the Adirondacks of the Northeast, I oppose any move to lessen or eliminate their protection in these and other areas.
I respectfully ask you to not remove protections for wolves in the lower 48.
