Community Residents against the Rezoning of 1464 W. Stones Crossing from Residential to Commercial for a 100 Room Hotel

There has been a proposal by the Owners of Barn at Bay Horse Inn to build a 100 Room, hotel on Stones Crossing in Front of the Barn at Barn Event Center. The owners are proposing a change in the current Comprehensive plan for Greenwood of residential to C-2 which will accommodate a hotel but if that falls through it could be anything from offices to a restaurant to a bar. The proposal put in front of the Greenwood Advisory Plan Commission was for a Hampton Inn hotel on the current Residential property, they are looking to demolish the residence and horse barn to build the hotel. Along with the hotel the owners have been buying property and currently own property that runs along the entrance of Cobblestone and backside of Brentford Ln. The owners have been asked what their plans for the rest of their properties are and they will not commit to keeping the current residential property zoned residential.

Amanda Cottingham and Debbie Cottingham refuse to share the plans with the community and since this is something the feel we so desperately need I ask why they won't share or have a conversation with the public.

Here are some of the things that will happen if we do not find a way to stop the proposed change in comprehensive plan and rezone from residential to commercial for their 100 room hotel.

- No value add to the residential area around the area in question that supports an exception to the comprehensive plan.
- Property value decrease. Greenwood lacks high end home development as it is. Compromising the existing homes is not a good sign.
- The amount of noise coming from the existing facility. This will just increase that.
- Setting precedence in converting residential space to commercial in this area.

We already have enough commercial zoned property in the area with a Vacant Marsh, a half empty Tried and True Plaza, and a Surgery Center.

Please join in and signing this petition against the potential zoning change. This is not an attack on them as people or on their business.
