Make Cowra Council responsible for animals impounded by their ranger

We need your help to get the proper care for animals impounded in Cowra Council Pound. Yesterday Cowra Shire Council pound had a dead dog in the facility. This kelpie was supposed to have been the rangers pet. Why was his dog at the pound? The ranger is responsible for his dog! A very emaciated mastiff has been accused of breaking out of his cage and killing the dog in the walkway. It is sentenced to death. There are photographs that show the two dogs. The photographs show no broken cage and no wetting or blood on the mastiff although the walkway has been washed around the dead dog. The mastiff is in terrible condition and had an empty dog food can in his cage with a ragged lid still attached and he had filled his food bowl with faeces. There were two other two dogs evident, one also very thin and in poor condition. A cat had been in the receiving cage for at least 48 hours as it had been fed by a local. The cat cage had not been cleaned, no bedding and no litter tray evident.  The mastiff was seen yesterday by local people and was friendly and timid. Animals are protectedy by laws and regulations in Australia. The animals in Cowra Pound are very poorly housed, no bedding, faeces in their cages, some are very undernourished and probably lacking in any medical care. We need answers from the Council, we need a total overhaul of the pound and if there is a shortage of paid workers volunteers are keen! One dog dead yesterday but another does not need to die! We need the truth and we need compassion and proper care for these poor animals.

Please sign as an person who cares about animals. The petition will go to the relevant authorities including Cowra Shire Council. It is not acceptable to have animals held in such appalling conditions. It is not acceptable to sentence a dog to death without evidence that this dog was at fault and not just a victim of vile circumstance. People are responsible here - not the animals!
