Demand a recusal of City Councilman La'Shadion Shemwell

Many have said, "It's impossible to get 20,000 votes in 30 days in the City"... let's prove them wrong and get that many signatures before the end of the month!!

No, signing this and getting the signatures will not result in a direct recall... however, the intent is to see how many are at least interested in the idea. Provided this, we could mobilize to start 2019 on a good note and submit the request to the City Secretary:

On December 5, 2018, sitting City Councilman La'Shadion Shemwell was arrested and charged with "Continuous Violence Against Family". While this charge is serious in its own right, this charge also represents a continued pattern of behavior unbecoming to the seat Mr Shemwell holds. This repeat offender continues to bring negative press and publicity to the City of McKinney.

Furthermore, many residents have pointed out that Mr Shemwell has additionally violated the Residency Requirements for Council Candidates, as he, reportedly, has moved out of the City of McKinney:

Sec. 15b. - Residency requirements for council candidates.

The candidates for Mayor and for the two (2) Council Members at Large offices shall have physically resided, as such term is defined in Section 10, within the McKinney City limits for not less than one (1) year prior to election day. Each candidate for a Council District office shall have physically resided within the boundaries of the Council District which they seek to represent for a period of not less than one (1) year prior to election day.

Any member of the City Council who ceases to physically reside within the City during the term for which they are elected shall immediately forfeit that office.

Any member of the City Council who ceases to reside within the Council District which they are elected to represent, during the terms for which they are elected, shall immediately forfeit that office.

Based on these issues presented, this petition serves as a direct attempt by the residents of McKinney Texas to raise the issue of seeking the opportunity to recall this man's election to the City Coucil.
