NHL - Australian Anthem for Nathan Walker

WHEREAS on Saturday, October 7, 2017, the Washington Capitals will play in the opening home match of their 2017-2018 National Hockey League season at the Capital One Arena; and

WHEREAS Capitals forward Nathan Walker is a citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia; and

WHEREAS the aforementioned Walker will become the first Australian national to play in a regular-season NHL game; and

WHEREAS SGM Robert McDonald, the region's preeminent performer of national anthems of the United States and Canada for Washington, D.C.-based professional sporting events, is capable of performing literally any song every written with minimal preparation time;

WE THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY PETITION the Washington Capitals and the National Hockey League to honor the momentous and historic occasion of Nathan Walker's NHL debut with the singing of the U.S., Canadian and Australian national anthems prior to the match between the Washington Capitals and the Montreal Canadians.


WE HEREBY IMPLORE the Washington Capitals -- including majority owner Ted Leonsis, general manager Brian MacLellan, director of game entertainment Tyler Hines, and any and all other interested and responsible parties -- to take all necessary steps to alleviate TV rights, scheduling or other such complications as may otherwise prevent such a demonstration from occurring.
