Stop Abuse of New York City Carriage Horses

A carriage ride in New York City might seem like harmless fun, but in reality, the abuse and hardships the animals face in the horse carriage industry are anything but harmless.

The horses who pull carriages in New York City perform hard labor seven days a week, whether it's sweltering hot or freezing cold, breathing hazardous exhaust fumes and walking miles through dangerous traffic.

At night, the horses climb steep staircases to be housed in midtown multi-story "stables" never meant to hold horses. The stalls are often full of feces and the horses -- routinely tied to their troughs -- can't move or lie down comfortably to get the rest they need. Many suffer from exhaustion.

Together we can help end the suffering of these horses. Encourage the New York City Council to replace horse carriages with 100% electric, 1920s-era replica cars that are good for the environment, fun for tourists and end the abuse of horses in New York City.
Members of the New York City Council,

Carriage horses working in Central Park die earlier and suffer longer than normal horses. You have the power to stop carriage horse abuse. Replace abused horses with vintage car tours.
