Demand the Australian Federal Government immediately subsidise the cost of Livestock feed whilst our regional areas struggle in the worst drought experienced for decades

People in the city and the federal government are of touch with the plight of Australian farmers. I know farmers in NSW who are now in the position where they have to consider shooting their livestock; they cannot sustain the feed prices they are currently having to pay. CR Shinton from the Warrumbungle Shire is a local government area in the central western region of New South Wales, Australia. This mayor said he had caught up with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at Trangie last week during his tour of drought-stricken NSW and Queensland where “The prime minister was saying there was a $20,000 loan farmers could get that you didn’t have to pay off for seven years". Cr Shinton replied to him, ‘Prime minister, the average feed bill here is $16,000 a month to keep your stock alive. $20,000 is only going to supply one month of feed. It’s just not good enough for those farmers.
Our Australian Federal Government must immediately subsidise the cost of Livestock feed whilst our regional areas struggle in the worst drought experienced for decades. They should also implement strong control measures to ensure that inflated feed prices are unlawful and that a greedy few cannot profit in situations where our farmers cannot water to grow their own feed. Lets look after the backbone of our country.
