Summer is the time we celebrate water. And the Great Lakes are where millions of us celebrate – whether we're splashing in the waves, picnicking on the shore, or cooling down with a glass of tap water.
But the Great Lakes need our help. Huge harmful algal blooms in parts of the lakes threaten public health. Invasive Asian carp are approaching Lake Michigan. High amounts of tiny plastic pieces pollute our water.
The Great Lakes region is 40 million people strong, and we won't be deterred by bad news. There is no better time than now to stand up for the lakes, clean water, and the future of our communities.
Protecting the lakes starts with you, in your neighborhood and at your favorite lakefront spot. Pledge today to protect the Great Lakes and all that they offer.
This summer, I will protect my Great Lakes by taking action as a volunteer, advocating for the lakes, or sharing why the lakes are worth protecting.
