Stop our town Board from accepting a proposal from the D & I committee to unfairly replace Columbus Day Holiday from the town calendar

The D & I committee has not allowed for an open discussion regarding the actual historical truth about Columbus in order to replace this holiday with Indigenous people’s day. We also feel that this proposal is ignoring the importance of this man and the holiday for Italian Americans. We agree that the unfair treatment towards Native Americans should be acknowledged and that is why there is already a National Recognition month of November for all indigenous people and the last Friday after Thanksgiving was designated Indigenous People’s Day decades ago. Why would one group who experienced oppression or injustice deserve to eradicate an important holiday from another immigrant group who suffered incredible discrimination prejudice and physical harm as new arrivals to America over 100years ago. Please sign this petition if you agree that Columbus Day should not be removed or replaced by the Town of Westborough And no longer celebrated.
