Tesco, the UK's largest supermarket chain has committed $11 million to preserving the endangered Brazilian steppe. Let's congratulate them.

The Cerrado is "the world's most biodiverse savanna" and it is under threat from increased soybean cultivation. Tesco has started a program to encourage farmers in The Cerrado to farm in more sustainable ways. The company anticipates preserving 11,000 hectares from deforestation through the program.

Tesco has also committed to the 2025 goal of only sourcing soy from areas verified as deforestation-free.
