Save the DeLeo Wall Trail of Cougar Mountain

"I don't know if you have heard about this, and I know that it is a bit late, but I wanted to put the word out there. The owners of the DeLeo Wall, which is part of cougar mountain, has asked for a logging permit to clear cut a huge amount of land for money and housing. If this occurs, the trails will be destroyed, the streams will be impacted with devastating erosion and runoff, and the habitat, wetlands, and riparian zones will be negatively impacted as well. This area is a popular site for hiking, which will be thrown out the window if they end up being able to clear cut all of the land. Debris could also end up being a huge fire hazard as well. In addition to this, the DeLeo Wall area is home to many species of animals, such as the bald eagle, which could be affected as well. However, all of this could be prevented if the government does not approve of the logging permit. But how can we help?

We can help by influencing their decision to approve the permit. This can be done by doing two things. The first is to spread this message around Instagram or irl. The second is by writing an email to SouthPuget.ForestPractices&dnr.wa.gov about why you think the logging permit should not be improved. For more information, go to the website savedeleowall.org. *ALL ENTRIES MUST BE EMAILED BY MAY 3RD, SO PLEASE ACT FAST* I wish I had sent this earlier, but I only recently heard about this.

Thank you for your consideration, and especially thank you to those who acted about it, you guys are the best!" (Ally Tribble)
