500,000,000 straws are used every single day, and are disposed of in landfills that eventually end up in watersheds and oceans. This amount of plastic pollution is only increasing, and researchers say that by 2050, there will be more plastics than fish in the ocean. These plastics never breakdown, and are often mistaken for food by various marine species. We are calling on ALL Ann Arbor restaurants to quit using single-use plastic straws. Restaurants should instead only give out straws on request, with the straws being biodegradable and reusable.
