Tell the EPA: No New Permits for Mountaintop Removal Mining!

  • by: Sierra Club

Right now, there are over 200 pending permits for new mountaintop removal mines in Appalachia. If these new mines get approved, it will mean more people get sick and more mountains get destroyed.

It's important to let the EPA know we're tired of getting sick and tired of seeing our mountains vanish.

Tell the EPA to veto any new mountaintop removal permits proposed for Appalachia!
Dear Administrator Fleming,

I appreciate the EPA taking time to hear residential concerns about the impacts of mountaintop removal coal mining on communities in Appalachia.

I hope the stories open your eyes to the issues facing Appalachia. I also hope you make a decision to protect our health by continuing to enforce strong guidance to protect our water, vetoing any new mountaintop removal permits, and finalizing strong safeguards against mercury pollution.
