Deny Scituate zoning variances, that threaten Hope village, requested for proposed Hope Mill development project

Paramount Development Group (PDG) is seeking 7 major zoning variances and one Special Use Permit from the Town of Scituate's Zoning Board for a project that will create 193 rental apartments here in the Village of Hope. The variances requested are:

A. Dimensional variance to have less than the required lot size and to exceed density

B. Dimensional variance to have less than the required width

C. Dimensional variance to have less than the required setback

D. Dimensional variance to exceed the maximum building height

E. Dimensional variance to have less than the required number of parking spaces

F. Dimensional variance to have less than the required parking setback

G. Dimensional variance to have a sewerage disposal system less than the required setback from a body of water

In addition, PDG is requesting a Special Use Permit to have a 193-unit multifamily residential development on a property of only (approximately) 32.22 acres.

The Town of Scituate has zoning ordinances for a reason. A project of this magnitude will negatively impact the character of the Village of Hope. This surge in population will stress the community for a variety of reasons, as well as its emergency services. There will be parking issues, increased traffic, an influx of kids in the educational system, a potential for increased crime, possible tax implications to current homeowners, and much more.

We ask the residents of the Town of Scituate to tell the zoning board to accurately represent their whole community and deny the multiple and massive zoning variances requested by PDG.
