Ban the Slaughter of Downed Animals!
On factory farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses across the country, hundreds of thousands of "downed" farm animals — those who are unable to stand or walk under their own power — are still exploited for food production each year. These afflicted animals are often beaten, dragged, or shocked on the way to slaughter, or are left to suffer for days before they are killed. Sometimes, these unhealthy individuals end up on kitchen tables and school lunch trays. It's time to end this abuse!
Farm Sanctuary is suing the USDA to extend the ban on the slaughter and processing of "downed" cattle to protect sick and injured pigs. But we urgently need your help to keep the pressure on.
Please join Farm Sanctuary in speaking out against the abuse of these animals. Send a message and tell President Joe Biden and U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to protect ALL downed animals — with no exceptions!

Dear President Biden and Secretary Vilsack,
Each year, hundreds of thousands of pigs, goats, sheep, and other farm animals are pushed beyond their physical limits by intensive farming practices until they can no longer stand or walk. These "downed" animals are often beaten, dragged by their ears or tails, and shocked with electric prods to get them onto the kill floor so they can be slaughtered for human consumption.
No being should suffer like this.
Please direct the U.S. Department of Agriculture to extend the federal ban on the slaughter of downed cattle to include ALL animals who are so sick, injured, or weak that they can't even stand or walk. Thank you for taking urgent action on this serious matter.
