DCFS/CPS Reform

My goal is to get a petition that is suitable for any and everyone in the country to send to their state Senator.

There is no "entity" that holds DCFS/CPS accountable for the grave errors they make at the sacrifice of our children. Be it wrongfully removing children from a home, or refusing to take action when a child is in danger.

It is time we stand up and demand that someone begin to hold the "system" accountable when they fail to act in the best interest of our children.

Who holds DCFS/CPS accountable when they fail to act in the best interest of our children?

I have called and called city, county, and state politicians asking this question and continue to get the same answer ~ No One.

No one is not an acceptable answer when the only "system" we have to rely on is not only fractured, but horribly shattered.
The amount of children that "fall through the cracks", never getting the help they need is appaling. The number of children that are removed from fit homes is almost as bad.

When DCFS/CPS fail to act on a behalf of a child's safety the entire legal system collapses in an effort to provide justice for that child. If DCFS/CPS drop thier case, deciding it is not worth their time to pursue, prosecutors will also drop any criminal case that may have been born of an act of abuse, molestation, neglect, abandonment, etc. towards a child. They cannot make a criminal case when the best defense is that DCFS/CPS decided it did not met the "classifications" they deemed required, regardless of state law.

In Arkansas it is law that if you strike a child and leave a mark that lasts more then 24 hours it is abuse. However, DCFS/CPS was faced with a case of a child that was beaten with a boat oar and bruised for 10 days and DCFS/CPS tossed the case deciding it was not "bad enough". This child was forced to go back to the home where, in less then 6 months, she was molested.

Please join me in telling our states and our country that we will no longer remain silent when it comes to the safety of our children.

Please join me in sending a clear message that something more needs to be done to protect our children.
