Help save the Sei Whale from the hunt in Japan!

Despite the halt on commercial whaling, Japan continues to hunt down and kill the Sei whale for "research purposes". While Japan is fully aware of its endangered status, they still plan to capture more than 300 a year for the upcoming 12 years since 2017. The Japanese government claims the set quota is based for scientific research but has shown little to no evidence for their claims.

Then Joji Morishita, Japanese commissioner, has pleaded for a small quota of the whales for local consumption. Although American and European counties have spoken out against the request.

The reason they are so important and why they should be saved is their importance to the marine environment. They are the among the top of the food chain and help population control with other marine life. Sei Whales can be equally as important for an economy too, as they can attract tourism.

Care2 says: Please sign this petition to demand that all whale hunting, for research purposes or otherwise, is stopped in Japan.

For more information on the endangerment of the Sei Whale please go to WWF, and if you can or want to help a whale you have an option to adopt or donate to a Sei Whale. To contact me email me at Rhianna.pease0002@gmail.com and label the subject as important.
