Help stop Trump's assault on energy efficiency!

  • by: NRDC Action Fund

President Trump and his Department of Energy are attempting to drastically weaken common-sense energy efficiency standards for light bulbs and appliances — cuts that will cost consumers billions while driving millions of tons of additional carbon pollution per year.

The Trump administration is accepting public comments on these two disastrous anti-environment attacks. So take a stand for our climate today: Tell the DOE that you're outraged by its proposals and will do everything in your power to fight back against these and any other attacks on critical energy efficiency standards.

Subject line: I urge you to stop your assault on energy efficiency

Dear Secretary Perry and DOE officials:

I am outraged by your proposals to dramatically narrow the scope of light bulbs covered by upcoming 2020 energy efficiency standards and to alter your agency's Process Rule, which is used to devise common-sense energy efficiency standards for appliances -- one of the most highly successful energy efficiency efforts that your agency oversees.

Both proposals are unconscionable attacks on energy efficiency that will pad the pockets of corporate polluters while costing consumers billions in additional annual energy costs, driving up our carbon emissions by millions of tons, and careening us toward climate catastrophe even sooner than expected.

[Your comments]

Please reverse course and do what's best for the American people and the future of our planet, not polluter profits, by abandoning your assault on energy efficiency standards immediately.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
