Three Cats Died After Being Trapped in an Apartment for Months Without Food, Water, or Air Conditioning

A Florida man decided to leave his apartment and never return.

Why are we writing a petition about his decision? Because when he left for good, he also left his cats there. And any pet owner knows how dangerous it can be to leave your animals at home alone for even short windows, let alone over 90 days.

Without any of the resources they needed to survive, all three cats died brutally, trapped in a small space with no way to get out.

Sign now to demand that this man receive counseling and a lifetime ban on animal ownership!

When authorities arrived, responding to a welfare check, the apartment had no electricity and no air conditioning. There was not enough food or water, and cat feces was covering the entire apartment floor. There were bugs crawling all over the walls and an unimaginably nasty odor.

When authorities found the bodies of the three animals, they were in "advanced stages of decomposition." It is not immediately clear how long it took the cats to die, or how much they suffered along the way.

The man has been arrested, but this alone won't necessarily protect him from hurting other animals in the future. What this man -- and all perpetrators of such neglect and abuse – needs is mental health counseling and a lifetime ban on animal ownership so that no other innocent cats have to suffer the same fate.
