Prosecute People Who Tied Up Pets When Fleeing Hurricanes!

  • recipient: Florida Authorities
When fleeing from hurricane Irma in Florida, some folks chose to leave their pets behind, tied up with no chance to escape.

We must ensure that these people are held accountable for putting their pets at such great risk! Sign to demand Florida authorities keep track of and charge anyone who left a tethered animal behind during Irma evacuations.

Of course, it's very difficult to have to evacuate from your home and folks have varying degrees of mobility. But if you choose to be the parent to an animal, it is your duty and responsibility to treat that animal as part of your family. Leaving your dog tied to a tree when there could be rising flood waters is just murder. Especially when there are so many shelters that are willing to take pets during emergencies. Yes, housing an animal during an emergency is difficult. But it is also your responsibility as a pet owner.

Amazing rescue workers are going through evacuated areas and trying to save pets left behind, but certainly they won't get to all of them in time. We have to stand up for the voiceless and be sure all in our society take animal abuse seriously.

In Palm Beach County, 49 dogs and 2 cats were rescued from being tied up or otherwise restrained when there could have been massive flooding!

Please sign to ensure Florida doesn't let anyone get away for this abuse.
