Dissection is cruel and extremely wasteful.
Stop dissection! It is not what todays people need to be doing. Killing these creatures is cruel and unethical. Millions of cats, dogs, frogs, rodents, worms, and insects are killed every year just to be cut up by middle school children and then tossed away. The places that kill these animals sometimes pay people to steal and capture any cats and dogs they see and adopt them from animals shelters and hand them over to laboratories and dissection businesses. More than half of the students will not take up an interest in animal anatomy and what is the point if half of the students don't care now and won't in the future.
Please eliminate dissection from the syllabus immediately. What students need to learn, they can learn just as easily from books and pictures. There is no need for 30 cats, per class to be killed when alternate resources would be just as good.
