The day following his arrest, banana heckler Christian Englander was slandered and falsly mislabled a white supremist, by the New Mexican and Mayor Javier Gonzales. No investigation was done before The New Mexican published thier biased story with Gonzales' harmful statements.
As a result Mr. Englander has been ostracized from a city he has enjoyed living and growing up in since the late 1980's. Since Chapelle's racially charged reaction and the Mayor's biased statements, Mr. Englander has been attacked in public and has recieved multiple death threats. In addition, he has been banned from local businesses.
Please Sign and ask the Mayor to publicly retract his statements and help Mr. Englander restore his reputation in Santa Fe.

We petition Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales to retract his public statements that:
“I am appalled that anyone from Santa Fe, a place that has embraced diversity for 400 years, would ever treat a guest to our city this way,” the mayor wrote.
“The racism inherent in his actions is unacceptable. It doesn't represent who we are, and we’re committed to taking action that reflects our true values by prosecuting those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.”

We ask for the mayor (and all citizens) to consider for a moment that Christian Englander is not a white supremacist. Rather a joker and serial heckler that was ignorant of the racial sensitivity of banana's. Christian was born and partly raised in Hawaii were bananas are a part of everyday life and not associated with African Americans or considered racist.
