Did you know that 8 out of 10 LGBTQ students face harassment at school every day, just because of who they are? The hostile climate created by homophobic remarks, bullying and unsafe spaces makes school a terrifying prospect for many LGBTQ students, leading them to skip school and fail classes, opt-out of sports and after-school activities, and often, drop out of school altogether.

GLSEN is helping. We transform schools to ensure LGBTQ students get an equal education and their classmates learn respect for all.

For the students we serve, going back to school can be an anxious time. That's why GLSEN created Ally Week! Held annually in the early fall, Ally Week encourages everyone to be better allies to LGBTQ youth.
