Asian American Women Are Being Attacked in New York. The NYPD Must Fully Investigate These Cases as Potential Hate Crimes.

Another woman of Asian descent was tragically killed in New York City. A man used a large rock to brutally assault her in November, and devastatingly, she passed away several months later after sustaining severe injuries. Just a day after her death, another man was charged with hate crimes when he brutally attacked seven Asian women in the span of just two hours. We must put a stop to these horrific and racist attacks in our communities.

Sign now to demand that the N.Y.P.D. Hate Crime Task Force fully investigates the case of this woman's beating and death, and if this is a hate crime, charge the individual accordingly!

Throughout the pandemic, racist and xenophobic attacks against Asian Americans have increased. This woman's death is just one of many against people of Asian descent recently, but currently, it is unclear if this specific case will be classified as a hate crime. Yet targeted incidents of racial violence must be classified and treated as hate crimes so that we can properly address them and prevent them in the future. The only way to fully comprehend the gravity of the situation facing so many Asian Americans today is to understand these attacks as connected to broader racist and xenophobic sentiment that has been on the rise for years.

We must stand in solidarity with the Asian American community and put pressure on the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force to fully investigate the woman's brutal attack and death as a hate crime. If it is one, the NYPD should treat it as such and charge the perpetrator accordingly. Sign the petition now if you agree!
