Don't Cut the Funding to Fight Hunger

All across America families are struggling to make ends meet during these tough economic times. But as more families struggle every day to keep food on the table, the House of Representatives is making massive and devastating cuts to federal nutrition assistance programs.

If the cuts recently proposed by the House Appropriations Committee are passed through congress, millions of Americans will face an even harder battle to keep themselves and their children from going hungry.

The House proposal would slash support for charitable food assistance by over 20 percent, pushing more people to local charities at the same time it slashes emergency food assistance for food banks, church pantries, and other charitable food providers.

We cannot let this proposal hurt our friends, families and neighbors struggling to keep food on the table. Tell your representative that it would be unconscionable to pass these cuts to these vital programs.
Dear [Representative]

Recently the House Committee on Appropriations approved cutting 20 percent of the budget for charitable food programs across America. All across America families are struggling to make ends meet during these tough economic times. At a time like this, these cuts would be unconscionable and devastating to Americans struggling to keep food on the table.

If you pass these cuts, millions of Americans will face an even harder battle to keep themselves and their children from going hungry. This bill would hurt the most vulnerable among us--seniors, women, infants and children.

This bill would push more people to local charities at the same time it slashes emergency food assistance for food banks, church pantries, and other charitable food providers. At a time when 1 in 6 Americans are struggling with hunger, we cannot let this proposal hurt our friends, families and neighbors struggling to keep food on the table.

Please, say no to these devastating cuts to federal nutrition programs.
