Reinstate UK Legal Aid and/or put in place provisions for compulsory, subsidised professional assistance for families going through Family Courts.

This would enable UK Courts to fully, and fairly, assess each case on an individual playing basis and a level playing field.

In turn, this should promote an increase in satisfactory Contact Orders being put in place which would benefit the child(ren), who, at the moment, run the risk of being separated from parents perfectly capable of raising them, but who cannot fight to do so simply because they cannot afford adequate representation.

Having recently gone through this process with my partner, who is trying to see his child, a child being able to have a relationship is not based on the parents suitability to have contact with their child, but based on whether they are physically able to afford representation.

Those without the necessary funds are having to represent themselves, often against the other party who either can afford this or who have this provided for them as they are one of the few groups still entitled to legal aid.

In order for a judge to adequately assess each individual case on a fair basis, I believe legal aid should be available to all. Those representing themselves are at an instant disadvantage against someone familiar with the legal process.

Good parents shouldn't be judged on how much money they have!
It really is the children that suffer and that needs to stop.
