The Affordable Care Act is under attack: Pledge to defend access to quality, affordable health care

The United States Supreme Court is considering a new case that could strike down all or parts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which could have devastating consequences for Californians:

  • Millions of Californians could lose access to health care services, including young adults who have coverage through their parents' plans
  • 7 million Californians could be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions (including COVID-19)
  • 3.8 million low-income adults could lose coverage through Medi-Cal
  • Value-based care incentives – which reward quality and efficient care – could be eliminated and replaced with the former volume-driven system for hospital reimbursements
  •
The ACA has become part of the very fabric of our health care delivery system. Dismantling it would drive our state and health systems into chaos, especially in the middle of a surging pandemic.

Hospitals, health care workers, seniors, low-income and young adults, Californians with pre-existing conditions, and so many others are counting on our collective voices and action to protect access to health care during the pandemic and beyond.

Our Health California is a diverse coalition of more than 1 million Californians fighting to do just that.
