Preservation of Drum & Bugle Corps

List of Inalterable Traits of Drum & Bugle Corps in DCI.
This is an official petition for the preservation of drum and bugle corps by the general consensus of members and fans. Drum Corps International is an organization for the people, for without us it could not exist. Therefore, the DCI Board of Directors should listen to the members and fans when making important decisions about the activity we know and love. We do not approve of the direction that drum & bugle corps is being pushed (electronic instruments, woodwinds and strings, raised member counts) and we want to preserve what it means to be in drum corps. This is not marching band, we fight to explain this to people, so why is DCI closing the gap between the two every year? If the vast majority of fans and members do not approve of what is happening, yet the 20 DCI Board of Directors continue to upset us with certain decisions, we should have the ability to veto. The goal of this petition is to influence DCI to make certain aspects of drum and bugle corps unchangeable. These aspects can include (but not be limited to) a maximum of 135 members in division 1 in order to keep the design teams creative with their numbers and smaller corps functioning, no electronic instruments allowed in performance (limited amplification of acoustic instruments in front ensemble is acceptable), and only acoustic brass and percussion instruments. This is a short list, but perhaps we can preserve the tradition and excellence of drum corps by coming up with a series of drum corps traits that cannot be changed through means of proposals, etc.
