Tell Congress: Sam Brownback is Unfit to Serve as Ambassador-at-Large

The Trump-Pence Administration has nominated Governor Sam Brownback to serve as an Ambassador-at-Large.

If confirmed, Brownback would be tasked with promoting religious freedom as a key objective of U.S. foreign policy while monitoring religious persecution and discrimination around the world. Someone with a long-standing history of opposition to LGBTQ equality is clearly ill-suited for such a critical role.

Gov. Brownback must not be allowed to use this position to reverse the State Department’s longstanding policies, reiterated by Secretary of State Tillerson earlier this year, to support ‘the fundamental freedoms of LGBTQ persons to live with dignity and freedom.’”

Brownback has an extensive history of opposing equality at every turn  and has promoted discriminatory laws in the Sunflower State. From forcing schools to fund anti-LGBTQ groups under the guise of 'religous beliefs' to policies making it impossible for transgender Kansans to change their birth certificates, time and again Brownback has shown himself to be an opponent of equality.

Stand with the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ civil rights organization, as we stand for fight the nomination of this unqualified bigot. While the Trump-Pence Administration peddles hatred, discrimination and bigotry, we must unite and fight back.
