Tell Congress: Support the Paris Climate Agreement

We are at a turning point. Climate change and related extreme weather events are already impacting our communities and the natural resources we depend on.
Droughts and flooding are becoming more intense, the oceans are becoming more acidic, our water supplies are shrinking, agricultural yields are dropping, sea levels are rising, and forests are burning in unprecedented wildfires.
Extreme weather events are costing American communities billions of dollars annually. If we do nothing, these impacts threaten to grow increasingly severe and costly over time. But the climate agreement reached in Paris offers us a real opportunity to act together to limit the damage and ensure a safer future for our children.
We must seize this historic opportunity. Take action today and tell your members of Congress to support the Paris agreement.
Dear Representative,
As your constituent and someone who cares deeply about the health of our planet, I urge you to support the landmark climate agreement reached in Paris, and the US commitments to implement it.
For the first time, there is a strong roadmap for truly global action, with every country committing to do what it can to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and to ramp up those efforts over time. Nearly 200 countries agreed to sign the historic agreement, including some with major developing economies such as China and India. All of them recognize that the threat from climate change is serious and the science of climate change is irrefutable. Each country committed to help prevent our planet from warming to catastrophic levels, pledging to work together to accelerate action and protect vulnerable communities already in harm's way.
In addition to national governments, hundreds of businesses and city leaders also stepped forward in Paris to call for governments to cut carbon emissions and transition to low-carbon energy while pledging bold actions of their own.
It's time for Congress to catch up with the rest of the world on climate change and to support the efforts to combat it. Strong leadership includes taking action at home and providing financial and technical support to poorer countries to help them transition to low-carbon economies.
