Across Africa, 90 million children are enrolled in school—but 50 million arrive hungry each day. Hunger makes it nearly impossible for them to focus, learn, or dream. Yet, despite having the world's youngest and fastest-growing population, Africa receives only 14% of global school feeding support.
By 2050, one in every four people in the world will be African. The success of these children—their ability to learn, grow, and lead—will help shape the future of our shared world.
Food4Education was founded 13 years ago in a small kitchen serving just 25 students. Today, it prepares and delivers more than 500,000 hot, nutritious meals every school day, in partnership with local governments, smallholder farmers, and community leaders. Each meal not only nourishes a child but also supports rural livelihoods—more than 80% of the food comes from local smallholder farmers, strengthening local economies from the ground up.
Research shows that every $1 invested in school meals generates up to $35 in social and economic returns. Food4Education's program has increased enrollment by over 20%, reduced absenteeism, and improved academic performance by up to 30% in partner schools.
But progress like this depends on people who believe every child deserves a fair start—people like you.
Add your name today to stand with Food4Education and help make sure no child ever has to learn on an empty stomach. Together, we can make school meals a right, not a privilege.
