Every American's Vote Should Count. Abolish The Electoral College!

Twice in 20 years, the popular vote winner has lost the Electoral College. Without this antiquated institution, Donald Trump wouldn't be President.

For centuries, the Electoral College benefited white male slaveowners as states received voting power based on population estimates that counted slaves as three-fifths of a person, without giving slaves the vote. After Reconstruction, Southern states retained full voting power despite disenfranchising millions of voters.

Because of the Electoral College, presidential campaigns ignore the vast majority of states. With voters of color heavily concentrated in states that don't matter like California and New York, the racist legacy of the Electoral College continues.

It's unfair to allow the Presidency to be decided by a handful of swing states and allow voters in small states count more than voters in large states.

We cannot allow a minority of Americans to elect another president like Donald Trump.

The Electoral College subverts the will of the people. It's time for one person to mean one vote.
