"Why did you shoot at the girl? You killed her!"

That's what one onlooker asked when she saw a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officer shoot and kill 20-year-old Claudia Patricia Gómez Gonzáles in cold blood.

Gómez Gonzáles was a member of a group of suspected undocumented immigrants in Rio Bravo, Texas. The CBP agent who took her life says they fired upon the group when the suspects refused to get on the ground and instead rushed towards him, but Claudia was unarmed and the CBP agent took it upon themselves to take her life by shooting her in the head.

Ms. Gómez Gonzáles traveled to the U.S. from Guatemala to find a job and raise money to continue her education. According to her family, she had recently graduated from a forensic accounting program but they were unable to help her continue to study due to their financial situation.

Claudia, like many others, was coming to the States to look for a way to improve her life, but because of irresponsible CBP agent, her dreams and those of her family were shattered with the pull of a trigger under the Texas sun.

We must demand justice for Claudia and that means accountability for the officer who took her life. Sign the petition and demand that the CBP agent responsible for Claudia's death is fired.
