Keystone XL is back. Don't let foreign oil companies boss America around!

When President Obama rejected the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, it was a huge step forward for our shared climate. The decision proved the power of grassroots citizens movements, protected the Boreal Forest's wildlife, and guarded our climate from further development of the Canadian tar sands - one of the world's dirtiest fossil fuels.

But now all of our climate progress is in danger, along with America's sovereignty.

TransCanada, the Big Oil corporation behind Keystone XL, is using NAFTA to sue the U.S. government for $15 billion for rejecting the pipeline. This is ridiculous - Americans have every right to decide whether or not we want foreign oil pipelines entering our country, putting our water at risk, or exporting the dirty fuel to Europe!

"The idea that some trade agreement should force us to overheat the planet's atmosphere is, quite simply, insane," said environmental hero Bill McKibben. "But the oil industry is so used to always winning that I fear this kind of tantrum is predictable. Corporate power is truly out of control."

We need to stand up for our country and for our climate. It's time to put people before private profits - sign this petition to demand that TransCanada drop its bogus lawsuit!

Mr. Girling:

As someone who cares about the environment, I strongly urge TransCanada to drop its lawsuit against the government of the United States of America.
