Tell Congress: Support federal nutrition programs that help seniors facing hunger

An estimated 5.7 million American seniors face food insecurity -- and our leaders aren't doing enough to help.

The Supplemental Nutrition Food Assistance Program (SNAP) is the single largest program aimed at curbing hunger in the United States. Millions of seniors -- who've worked hard their whole lives but still need a little help to put food on the table -- rely on programs like SNAP, which is sometimes referred to as "food stamps."

But fewer than half of the eligible seniors nationwide are receiving the SNAP benefits they're eligible for. This number could be lower if Congress decides to make any major cuts to the program in upcoming legislation – which would curb efforts to educate people about the program and provide funding for food.

Send a message to Congress now -- tell them to reject any cuts or harmful changes to SNAP.
Dear Representative / Senator,

Millions of older Americans struggle with hunger every day. This Senior Hunger Awareness Month, I urge you to do everything in your power to help those who've put in a lifetime of hard work.

You can help seniors -- and families -- struggling with hunger by standing up for Supplemental Nutrition Food Assistance Program (SNAP) in Congress. Even though SNAP benefits are not enough to feed a family, they help recipients stretch their grocery budgets and put nutritious meals on the table. Any cuts or harmful changes to SNAP funding would put millions of families at risk, including tens of thousands in your district.

Research from Moody's Analytics shows that for every dollar spent on SNAP, $1.70 is put back into the U.S. economy. SNAP allows all families to participate in their local economies, and makes our communities stronger. Please stand up for seniors facing hunger who rely on SNAP, and reject any cuts or harmful changes to this vital program.

Thank you,
