Fewer Than 300 Wolverines Remain in the Lower 48 States. We Must Act Now to Protect Them Before It's Too Late!

A federal judge has invalidated a decision which denied protections to wolverines under the Endangered Species Act! This is a huge victory for the imperiled species, which was shook by reduced protections under disgraced ex-President Trump. It is also not the first time a court has rejected a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service move to deny protections for beloved wolverines, which are experiencing shrinking populations in the United States. This is a huge opportunity to protect wild animals – we must act quickly to protect wolverines before it is too late!

Sign now to demand that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service finally listens to the courts and judges and protects wolverines!

There are less than 300 wolverines remaining in the contiguous United States, and there are currently no federal protections in place to keep the population stable or prevent sudden declines. Wolverines habitat has shrunk dramatically in the past century, with fragmentation due to human development and poaching making fewer and fewer places livable for the beloved mammal. On top of that, climate change poses an additional threat, as wolverines rely heavily on prolonged snow cover in spring and early summer months to den. Shrinking snowpack – a now inevitability of the next half century – paints a scary picture for the carnivore. Even if we stopped emitting greenhouse gasses tomorrow, the climate impacts of the past century will continue to spiral to reduce snowpack in the coming years. The snow-loving wolverine will be brutally impacted by this.

After two courts have rejected the ridiculous Trump-era decision to deny protections to wolverines, the message should be clear to regulators. The population is at risk and in need of endangered or protected status! We must tell the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service to listen to courts and judges and protect wolverines once and for all!
