SAVE OUR PARKING SPACES

On behalf of the many businesses, residents, houses of worship and schools who have reached out to us in Sunnyside and Woodside, we request that the DOT's proposal for street safety improvements on 43rd and Skillman Avenues be shelved entirely until an agreeable solution is met, with the exception of promised crosswalks for school sites.

The loss of any parking spaces will cause irreparable damage to our small businesses and organizations, and residents who drive for work, and immediate problems for those who rely on those spaces on a daily basis, industry and office staff, school workers, teachers and everyday Sunnysiders and Woodsiders.

Mass transit is insufficient. We support a future of fewer cars, cleaner air, more cyclists, but we cannot sustain such a disruptive loss to our businesses to the lives of local residents.

Many of us are bicyclists and support bicycle lanes, including those already on Skillman and 43rd Aves. However, we ask no construction if there is loss of parking space, except for the school crosswalks as announced.
