Demand that Marjory Stoneman Douglas retain their administration team while the root cause (District Policies, FBI procedures, BSO actions etc...)of this tragedy is properly investigated.

There are many factors which contributed to the systematic failures which allowed such an incident to occur. We are concerned that the bereaved who are rightfully demanding action, are focused on the wrong targets. The MSD administrators took many steps to provide staff with training, practice and information for years prior to this horrible incident. They functioned within the District Policies and procedures and as well as failures and funding limitations. The school system is primarily responsible for the education of students, the local, state and federal law enforcement are entrusted to focus on our protection and safety. Why should a BSO officer who failed to act be allowed to retire and collect his pay check for the rest of his life? Why are the couple who took our shooter into their own home and failed to maintain control over the key to the cabinet which locked up the very guns which were used that day, be allowed to avoid prosecution? Why should the FBI team who were called many times and failed by deeming our shooter "not a threat" keep their jobs? Why should Mr. Runcie's PROMISE program's failure to provide follow through after this person was no longer a student on our campus, be free from scrutiny? Why should all of these failures be overlooked? Why should our award winning administrators -who did not fail, be threatened with dire consequences which could end their careers. It's unjust and unfair the place blame on the shoulders of our staff. It's unproductive to divert energy from solutions which will actually keep us safe. This action would only fail to make our schools safer. Our administrators have been the very backbone and the heart and soul of our recovery. Losing them for no valid reason would destroy the healing climate we have worked so hard to cultivate. This injustice, would devastate our students and their families, and would re-traumatize our entire staff. Please research the root causes of this tragedy and specifically address them to the District leadership, their policies, priorities and properly funded initiatives. Demand that our Superintendent follow the law in determining the systematic failures on February 14th. Demand that the School Board keep our Marjory Stoneman Douglas administrators in place and provide legitimate solutions to this tragedy.
