Join the Movement to Protect Kids, Not Guns

As if all the devastation of COVID-19 weren't staggering enough, sadly, we are suffering from yet another type of epidemic: gun violence. In Wisconsin, gun violence has skyrocketed, bringing even more harm to families already struggling with the effects of the pandemic.

Our elected leaders have the opportunity — and responsibility — to pass legislation and fund programs to prevent gun violence, but they are failing.

Leaders in the Wisconsin legislature are actively doing all they can to make a terrible situation even worse by pushing the gun lobby's reckless, profit-driven agenda, even though that would almost certainly harm Wisconsinites.

Here are a few things they are trying to do:
- Lower the age for obtaining a permit to carry a concealed firearm to 18
- Force school districts to allow concealed carry in vehicles on school grounds

These measures will not make us safer. All they will do is make the gun lobby happier and the gun industry richer. Instead of fighting to put more guns in the hands of more people in more places, our legislators should be pushing for laws and programs that save lives (like background checks on all gun sales, extreme risk protection orders, and community-led gun violence intervention and prevention programs).

We can't let them get away with this. Add your name to join the movement preventing the gun industry from writing the laws here in Wisconsin.
