Sign the Petition to Demand Congress Pass A Stronger Global Food Security Act

In May — thanks to extraordinary action by Oxfam's community and coalition partners — Congress passed legislation that allocated more than $5 billion to address global hunger. This funding will undoubtedly save lives in the hardest hit communities around the world, but one round of funding after millions have already lost their livelihoods, fallen into poverty, and gone hungry just isn't enough.

Rather than reacting to food crises, we need to take strong action to prevent them — so it's time to raise our voices once again. Sign Oxfam America's petition to demand action from Congress and invest more in global food security.

The Global Food Security Act (GFSA), a bill with bipartisan support, was designed to develop stronger food systems and prevent hunger crises like the one unfolding now in East Africa. Now that it's up for reauthorization, Congress has an opportunity to invest in a more food-secure world.

We're living through a hunger catastrophe of unprecedented proportions. Every night, 828 million people are going to bed hungry, including 50 million people in 45 countries who are facing extreme hunger. That's why we're asking Congress to meet the moment and double investment in the GFSA so that more countries can benefit.

Add your name to demand that Congress use its power to prevent future crises by ambitiously expanding the Global Food Security Act.
